Belfast Beer Trip 16 years 9 months ago #1

Hoping to head to Belfast this week for some ale tasting. 20 bills return on the train at the minute and since the weather is so good I figure why not.

Apart from the crown bar where else would be worth a look. I've only about 9hours so in the city would be best.

Also has anyone ever take the Hilden tour or been out to their pub? Or the whitewater bar?

cheers

The Hilden brewery is in Lisburn, which is a good bit outside of Belfast itself, but they have most of their beers at their restaurant, Mollys Yard.

The only thing is that you would need to book ahead as it gets quite busy, and you cant just go in for a pint, you need to eat.

I came across that alright. Might book a lunch so. I was thinking of either of the other brewery pubs instead of Belfast as the crown only has 3 ales (or so they tell me) and the other option might be a Wetherspoons on bedford st...

That's a particularly nasty Wetherspoons, IIRC.

Hilden's dead easy to get to: it's on the suburban rail line. Whitewater's White Horse isn't really near Belfast at all.

Id strongly recommend the John Hewitt - tis a top bar! Also well worth going to see the Hilden brewery - fantastic when the sun is shining! The Duke of York is good for Whiskey... if you wanna gimmie a shout when you're coming up I'll try to meet you for one or 2!!
