i was in Ljubjana, or however you spell that, a few years back and was in a cool and weird little bar: Cafe del moro. If you're looking at the river from the main meeting square, it should be down a lane on the left hand side of the river somewhere. I won't give too much away on it, it's kind of nice to just see what it's about. The owner was great, kept plying us with beer. Having said that, I can't remember any beer in particular standing out, in fact I think we were drinking Czech pilsners, but not 100% on that because it was poured into us.
Other than that, there are loads of nice sidewalk bars to sit at along the river for an evening drink. It feels very like the cafe culture of Italy, just a little more lively. While there, ask about the traditional restaurant called something like "the wolf... something." We never managed to get in to it, but others we were with did. It's the front room of the chef's house, and he'll insist on making all of his favourite food for you. I'm so jealous, would love to be back there.
