really good selection in there...Kwak for €1.89, Duvel, Maredsous and Orval for €1.99. Plenty of others too!

The Smithfield branch does Shepherd Neames for similar prices.

How do they do it though? Presumably they must be making some kind of profit at those prices. Are we being ripped off by other shops and off-licences where those beers sell at €3+ per bottle? I stocked up in Fresh with a dozen mixed Belgians and it was such a pleasant shock to get change out of 25 yoyos that I almost walked under a bus!

I think I've found out why the beer is so cheap there...it seems they've got someone to shake some of the bottles resulting in a mess of beer when you open the bottle (happened on a Gulden Draak and Chimay Red for me...some Kwak I had was fine though).

Actually, is there any way of reducing the risk of massive spillage of a shaken bottle? I doubt simply opening the bottle slowly and carefully would have made much difference with those two
