Pilsner Urquell has finally arrived at the Bierhaus! After much effort Dave has finally secured a consignment of same. Had two pints on Friday night and it tasted really good. I think if it sells very well it might becoem a permanent fixture. Was certainly in good demand on Friday night anyway! Cheers Dave! I also introduced a Canadian tourist to Galwsy Hooker so doing my bit for Irish craft beer!!!!

I had a pint of pilsner urquell & some other cheap beer starting with a k in the Czech inn last night & I thought it tasted poor like my home-brew when it gets infected. I also tasted the Gambrinus in the bierhaus3 weeks ago and I got that same gone off flavour. Now I've tasted beers in the Czech republic & they were fantastic and the bottled versions here, so I can only assume there Irish suppliers are getting their hands on the old manky stock. Budvar which does a roaring trade in Ireland tastes as good on draught here as it does in the Czech republic.

I find Pilsner Urquell in the 66cl bottles far tastier than the 50cl bottles. Is there a difference other than size? I've only seen the 66cl bottles in Fibber Magees on Parnell St where I often took advantage of their €3 a drink nights <!-- s8) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8) -->

Must say I thought the Pilsner Urquell I had in the Bierhaus tasted very good. I think previous threads here mentioned the quality of beers in the Czech Inn might not be the best - that it is more of a late night / loud music good fun pub. I have not been there yet but base that opionon just on what I see here. I do hope to get there some time though.

Carlow's Curim wheatbeer is a guest beer at the bierhaus at the moment. I think it is o.k. but not fantastic by any means. I imagine it is not available in many locations but fair dues to Dave in supporting Irish craft brewers with guest beers from time to time.
