Going to NYC? 17 years 11 months ago #1

There's a lot of buzz about this new site[/url:29lc3yy8], which claims to be a more or less live listing of what beers are currently available in specific bars around Manhattan.

An ambitious project to keep something like this updated, but fair play to the bar managers who are committed to doing it.

We should do something similar over here. It would be easier to keep it up to date

I think the projects we have -- Irish beer companies[/url:14gc6kms] and bars[/url:14gc6kms] -- are plenty to be going on with. Something like this really needs the proprietors to take responsibility for updates, and the general standard of online information in the Irish quality beer sector is, let's say, far from ideal.

The total inability of Redmond's[/url:14gc6kms] and McHugh's[/url:14gc6kms] to run even basic web sites bugs me particularly: up-to-date stock lists from them would be very useful.

n1mbus and I have often discussed the idea of a "Fridge Cam" which would save the likes of Redmond's and McHugh's having to bother with a stock list. Allow users to log on and control the cam (pan zoom) and away you go. We thought of this in the Porterhouse one night afer we got tired of having to go up to the bar to see what was in stock in the fridge. In that case, a live view over the tellies in the bar instead of football and crappy Temple Bar ads would be really handy!

It would probably be easier to run a web feed off the stock control system, as long as you're entering the beers' names conscientiously as they come in.

It would be even easier [b:35xxlg5k]to have a f**king website with some f**king content on it![/b:35xxlg5k]

But yes, I take your point.

Well, it was a kind of piss-take, and mainly stemmed from our desire to do everything from the comfort of our hard-won seats in the Porterhouse

Should get wireless access in the B&C so I could join yas for virtual pints!
