FWIW, I remember terrible service and surly management taking a if-you-don't-like-it-there's-the-door approach to complaints back in 1998.

ye know what I mean...not giving a shit about people who really want to drink quality beer in a pub environment and focussing on cramming as many people in as possible

The getting-a-regular-pint-glass-with-a-bottle-of-Schneider-Weisse annoys me big time

Well that's central Dublin for you. The Porterhouse in Temple Bar has been like that a long time, in my experience. They still pack them in.

I tend to choose my times carefully with the Porterhouse, and will usually only go for one. It's not a good place to spend an evening.

They don't seem to be suffering from my lack of custom, and I vote with my feet, pointing them up Parliament Street, right at city hall then round to the left at Christchurch

Is that a new signature beer nut?

Hi Delzep, you might have missed this previous discussion on the PH:

www.irishcraftbrewer.com/Communi ... php?t=1054

To summarise; it's still one of the few places in Dublin where you can get great beer, but there are plenty of annoying things about it. Maybe we are becoming Grumpy Old Men, well I am anyway!

ended up in PH Central last night whilst waiting for the nitelink home, and they still have a tap with Choc Truffle Stout in there - dunno if it's active or not, cos I was drinking hooker (E5.10! ) but it could be. I've not managed to get any of that yet this year so might have to do a sunday arvo luas trip. Might try and persuade herself to go shopping in town
