Just back from a stag weekend in Budapest. As usual you dont get to visit as many craft bars as you would like for one reason or another. Mostly drank lagers/pilsners Soproni and Dreher and a few Hofbrau weiss. Pilsners local mostly around 2euro in city centre for 500ml, Weiss about 2.50. Halfway through the second day I had to ditch the 21 other guys to get a real beer. They went into Champs sports bar and I went into next door "Beerosag", its pretty low down the ratebeer list (I had the first 5 places marked on my map, didnt make it to any of them), but its well worth a visit. It had 10 Hungarian craft taps and a menu of about 60-80 hun craft bottles. Its all in Hungarian, but anyone can work it out when you see things like USA, Simcoe, 8.5%, you get to work out most beers on the list. The prices, wow.. Hopfanatic no hop limit 330ml 8.5% for about 2.80euro, aah they only had one for me..
Had another IPA also very good, 2 Zips black ipas very good, Maharajah IPA 500ml bottle OK, and couple of belgian style cherry beers. Would really recommend this place. One Prima supermarket i was in had no craft beers. Saw about 2hrs of the cityscape, some nice buildings, but thats not what i was there for this time.
Onwards and upwards off to Bruges this week, ooh the prices!
Aaron.
