It is an absolutely stunning part of the country, but yes alas the craft beer scene was hardly kicking last time I was there. Great for watersports, hang-gliding and hillwalking. Just be careful in the "Minaun (spelling?) View" bar,it´s an IRA supporters place.
Also Clare, around Doolin (Cliffs of Moher) and The Burren, and Cork and Kerry. Basically anywhere west coast the scenery is great.

Thank you all!

We suspected as much during last year's visit. We visited Trim, Drogheda, Dublin and Eniskillen, and didn't find anything.

We may get to the Aran Islands, and I believe there is a craft brewer there...

Thanks again!

Donegal) for the Aran Islands (Co. Galway). But don't worry: there's no brewery in either location.

I was in Enniskillen myself last summer. There's a Wetherspoons there, so if you had found it you would have had the choice of a few cask ales.

Freinds will be visiting Navan this weekend, and I'd like to point them in the right direction. Where would one go to get a good craft beer, or any beer other than Guiness? The store in downtown Navan didn't have much in the way of beer when we were there last summer.

This summer we'll be back visiting for two weeks, probably on Achill Island. Suggestions?

I actually drink in Navan a good bit.. Its not a town for nice beers.. There is Smiths on the square that has a livily atmosphere.. They used to do McArdles pint bottles off the shelf.. / There is Ryans on Trimgate street again nothing worth nothing other than good pub..
