I just read that there is a big merger planned which will see Murphy's (Heineken) and Beamish (Scottish and Newcastle (I think))owned by the same company (Carlsberg (I think))
The speculation is that if this goes ahead then it would be unlikely that they would maintain two minority stouts.
Now while I have no love of Murphy's watery insipid brew it is still a regional beer.
But Beamish on the other hand is the only pint I'm willing to drink in your average pub (I'm a bit fecked outside of Cork when most pubs don't sell pint bottles of Guinness)
Let's face it for most people in Ireland, stout is the only pub brew of any sort of reasonable quality and we're rapidly killing off them.
I'm curious to know what peoples thoughts are on this matter.
