If you are successful then be sure to let us know and show us a few pics, never know if your price is right maybe you could get a few commissions from it, I know I'd be interested at the right price, but I'm thinking 60l for mine once I'm ready.

Do you have access to Clean Welding plant and rollers formers etc ? , it's a bit knacky getting the cone down to a proper size to put a dump valve on it .

Steel itself in any case should come to about 400 eur for a double skinned fermenter , You'll need at least 304 for the inside wall and if you could get 316L even better, You have a bit more choice on your outer steel jacket as it won't need to be food safe really.

I will use 304 as both the brew and dairy industry use it fine.I have not decided on whether I will form and weld or press,I also have not decided on a double skin as I am not sure of the running cost,s of temp control liquid being pumped around the inner wall

304 is fine for it alright .

For temp control you'd need a cooling group , which is pricey , but if you can do the double skin , it'd allow you to cool hot Wort to Pitching temp in the fermenter , just by running cold water through it , Be handy and probably a lot more sanitary than the copper coil chiller .

Best of luck with it , and enjoy it !!

COOLING WORT 16 years 4 months ago #17

I prefer to use the immersion wort cooler as it leaves the cold break in the hop bed when I transfer to f.v..I know that some brewers feel the cold break is fine in the f.v.but I feel that I get a clearer brew
