GnG can also get you 'Widget Gas' whose canisters are bigger and therefore better value than the standard hoembrew cylinders. These also work on an exchange basis.

what sort of connection do the 'widget gas' cans have??
how much are you talking for a bottle, and how much bigger is it??

Don't 'Widget Gas' canisters use a regulator of some kind? They are a much better solution, than the 8g co2 bulbs, or the Hambleton Bard canisters, if they do.

Wow I see this in leyland homebrew website :

GBP16.49
Widget NO2/CO2 Cylinder - 0851 0851
New cylinder containing 360 gm of mixed gas, 70% nitrogen, 30% carbon dioxide.

Class! Creamy headed stout!
Unfortunately they cannot send via the post. but maybe GnG can get that too!

You can get Widget World in various configurations. I got mine with a 'So-Dash' which included a manifold & pressure gauge for use with a cornie although they are often used for basic barrels too.

Here's what I found out when I contacted Hop & Grape:

[quote:302af52a]To use the Widget system you would require a cylinder, stand and sodash unit. The Sodash unit incorporates a Pressure gauge which will show the pressure in the keg at any given time but with the danger that a small leak may empty the keg and cylinder of gas in a short time we recommend only attaching the cylinder when you wish to apply some gas. So after a session you can top up the gas pressure when you have finished with the cornie to the level you require.

In the end I ordered from Grape n Grain because I wouldn't have been practical to avail of the cylinder exchange by post. I can't remember the exact pricing but it wasn't too much more than Hop & Grape.

H&G prices in UK£:

SODA-SH £19.49
CYLINDER STAND £2.99
CO2/NITROGEN CYLINDER £19.99 (REFILL £5.99)

I got both the CO2 and the mixed gas canisters. The CO2 is finished and I haven't brewed a stout yet so the mixed gas is untouched. I must get a refill for the CO2 as they're a handy alternative to the pub gas if you're taking the keg with you anywhere like a party/BBQ etc.

The kit also comes with 3 adapted bottle caps for PET bottles which you can use to carbonate the bottles.
