Good Deals 18 years 5 months ago #1

Just thought i'd let you all know about a couple of good deals i spotted recently. But these are not beer deals, sorry.
Aldi in Rathmines are selling a great dessert wine for only €6 a bottle. Ideal after xmas dinner, or as a gift.
If you like whiskey here is deal of the year.
Dongourney 1964 (30 year old) Rare whiskey would normally sell for about €80 a shot. But the PH Temple Bar are letting it go for a mere €26 a shot. I've had it, and it is worth every penny.
Cheers

I presume you're typing this using predictive text and "shot" should read as "pint", no?

Sorry nothing wrong with my typing today.
The reason for the expense? Because it was the whiskey last to be made at the Old Midleton Distillery. Distilled in 1967, just before it closed.

the distillery in midleton is still in operation, unless they have just changed premises and that is what you are talking about. <!-- s:? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":?" title="Confused" /><!-- s:? -->

I think he meant it was the last whiskey to be made in that distillery as the Midleton distillery, before it became just another part of Irish Distillers (Jameson?) in 1966.

I could be wrong though!

The old distillery closed over 30 years ago and reopened across the road. the old distillery is now the heritage centre.
