White Gypsy in bottles... 13 years 5 months ago #7

McHugh's have it too. Have had the Doppelbock and the APA. I'm normally a hophead but the bock completely turned my head - superb!

Picked up their German Doppelbock in Devaney's a couple of weeks ago.

About 8€ (IIRC) for a 75cl bottle.

Had another bottle of the Imperial Stout last night - what a delicious beer! I love the smoky flavours in it.

Anyone hazard a guess where the smoke comes from, rauchmalt or peat-smoked malt?

I'd hazard a guess at a small amount of peat smoked malt. Don't get the smoked ham flavour associated wtih Rauch malt.

However, given my well dodgy sense of taste, I now fully expect someone to reveal that it is indeed Rauch malt. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->
