Oh, I'm a machine all right...

Welcome, Woods. I was hoping I'd have room and time for a cask Fraoch as it's one of my all-time favourite beers and I've only had it from the bottle. Sadly, everything else was just too tempting.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks. Yes, I was a Fraoch virgin. It was good. But I think I said this to my work crowd, there really was so much choice - "It was like being a kid in a sweet shop"... or umm... in this case a Beer drinker at a Beer Festival. <!-- s:-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:-) -->

I took a few photo's at the event, really just trying to visualise the range of beers on offer. I'm sure TheBeerNut has a some better shots.

Only one significant one. [i:26n53csj]This[/i:26n53csj] is what was being served as a "half pint":

My other pics are kinda blurry for some reason...

some really generous bar people, must book place in next years belfast beer festival, looks like they got lots of beer and pour a drink without regard to specific measures, a good combination if i ever saw one.

I couldn't make it this year because of work commitments. How was the music at the venue? Was it as loud as I feared it might be?

The hall was huge and cavernous, with the bar at one end and the band way way way down the back. I didn't find the music intrusive at all. What I didn't like was the lighting: the hall had really powerful lights and they must have reckoned it was too bright so had about a third of them switched off. This meant it was just too dim to judge the colour of the beer properly. But that's really the worst complaint I have.

I guess the Ulster Hall is designed to have good acoustics; this place is for farmers to idle around and chat, so therefore much more conducive to a beer festival.
