Sean stated our case eloquently but it's a damn up hill battle to convince people that homebrew isn't just a cheap means of getting smashed. Ben Dunne is an irritation. Does he really think that those who want to get hammered on the cheap are going to bother putting the time and effort into a brew day? They'll just grab cheap cans form the off license.

Sounds like the Dunne fellow had a good time in Florida 15 years ago. Nothing like trying to convince a former cocaine addict that brewing at home is a safe, affordable hobby-especially when the family business involves selling beer & wine. Oh well.

Thanks for the opinions. I haven't seen it myself, as we only have a satellite dish with freeview, so no RTE (but we still have to have a TV licence. Grumble...).
Everyone says that I came across quite well and Conor Pope, who I happen to work with, said I made my point well and should consider becoming a spokesman for something. Now I wonder what I would feel strongly enough about...
