New Brewery Excise Bond Help 14 years 1 month ago #1

Hi all, New member here.

I am in the process of setting up a micro brewery in Meath, I have most of my equipment sorted out and have manufacturing licence etc got but I am having real trouble with my bond.

I have gone to Aviva and Allianz for quotes and Aviva wont quote as we are a new startup. Revenue wont give me an idea of how much of bond I will need until I provide a quote from Insurance company or bank saying they will provide cover.

There is no dark history for either of the directors and we have a clean record financially.

Is there anything I missing out on to ease my way past this.

Thanks

Small bit of info re brewery
It will be an 10 barrell brewhouse and we are looking to make a lager, couple of ales and a stout. I have been home brewing for years and decided I was going to take the plunge. My business partner is a commercial brewer and distiller with cargill in the UK. we aim to be up and brewing 1st September if I can get my bond sorted.

I have no idea how to answer your question, but maybe one of the micros on here will see you right.

Best of luck with the venture! It's great to see craft beer starting to take off!

Based in Trim, I'm a local and the lad in with me is from Kells.

I'm more or less set just need bond to get get tax warehouse and storage approval. Fecking red tape!!!

You're probably not really going to get the answer on here.

Talk to one or more of the established micros. Your experience is not unique.

That might be true but I thought Id ask anyway.

Its looking like the only option I have to to pay the bank a quaterly fee for having the bond. I was hoping an insurance policy would work out 30-40% cheaper.
