No, it wouldn't be, but I'd imagine they'd be buying their malt from one maltster, who is only buying barley from growers in a particular region.

Of course! But better is different! It pains me to say it tho, but it's Shep Neame and it's UK barley. I don't think it'll be better.

Should make American draught craft cheaper though surely? I'd imagine there's a fierce transport cost to get beer from West Coast USA to Ireland.[/quote:3sbu3z1u]

I'd say, barman in ATG was saying the other night a 30 litre keg of Rogues Dead Guy Ale cost them 120 euro hence the €7.20 price tag for a pint

Considering the muck that is already "brewed" under licence in the UK, I hope Ol Sam has strict quality standards.

I'd guess there are still going to be differences between the Samuel Adams produced at Cincinnati and that brewed in Breinigsville.

My point is really that Boston Lager, and Brooklyn Lager for that matter, were born BUL beers. Boston Lager only stopped being one on a technicality when the contract brewery was bought out by its former contractee. It's not like Jim Koch's little Boston Brewery is suddenly having its product industrially upscaled at a foreign brewery.

According to the man on the telly, the biggest stout brewery in the world buys all their's from one maltings. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Actually I didn't realise that as it's not a beer/brand that I've any interest in. All the more reason they won't object to fiddling with the recipe to suit the local ingredients.
