I know of a pub that opened one day a year for 25 years, so it worked for them at least, and my father was a garda and he used always say about the one day a year thing.

Can't see that being the case as this pub is a landmark, as well as being historically significant.

The licence itself would be worth a few bob - not as much as few years back - but a pretty penny none the less - would probably be in their interests to keep it going -even if just to sell it on at some point

This pub is around since 1720 (I think) or so, and the landlord at one stage was Richard Guinness, brother of Arthur Guinness.

As long as the licence still exists I can't see it being separated from it too easily.
