You can also go on the HopUnion site and watch their videos on how hops used to be grown and harvested and how its done now.

The information that I WOULD like to have and is in the 2nd Amazon book I linked to is on what varieties grow well in which growing regions; but most of the sites that you'd buy hop rhizomes from will tell you this so again the Internet seems to be a better source of information than any book I've found.

you sparked a bit of interest for me yesterday ! so I did a little reading on it - I haven't read any of the books that Adam mentioned but the stuff I found on the tinterweb seemed kinda useful - and as usual raised some questions for me - I've a small urban back garden so may consider the dwarf variety - although this seems to be limited to one variety - (prima donna or something like that ) can the full length varieties be trained to grow on say an arch - as in grow up one side across the top and down the other ?
- in general what are peoples personal experiences in growing hops ? such as training them to grow in certain limited space situations - in containers ect.

You can train/rig them to grow in a loop.
They need to be growing upwards.
I saw it on the web, cant remember where, may well have been here, but the idea is that you coil/wind it in a large loop as it grows. But always make sure the end is growing upwards.
You can use rope and pullys (and a bit of imagination).
