The Homebrew company expanding! 14 years 8 months ago #7

I actually went down to the Homebrew company a couple of weekends ago and met Shane. He is a top chap, gave me a tour of the shop and demo all grain lab he does. I have to say I was well impressed - he is a genuine enthusiastic brewer we had a great chap about hops yeasts grains and all the various bits and bobs. He showed me his uncrushed grains which he regrets dont sell better - after all they are about 1/2 the price.
I also talked to him about the Irish Grain situation - and explained that I would love to buy Irish grain from Irish farms.
The problem he has is its simply not economical to get uncrushed grains in 1 tonne bags (he doesnt have) to collect himself - (trailor he doesnt have)
- added to that the work of crushing the grain and weighing it out into bags.
He also made the point that 'sebastian' grain is not stictly Maris Otter - its more of a pilsner - and the demand isnt there for it.

Hopefully if he continues to grow the distributors will crush it into 25kg bags which he can resell.

Anyways just thought I would update on the Irish grain situation !
