Have downloaded some of the pdfs ( like 01_-_Beer_Stabilisation_part_1 and 02_-_The_function_of_wort_boiling1 ) but didn't find 04, 05, 06 Are these the pdfs you are refering to?

BTW: What was the cost of the exam?

Ref. the blog. Write to IBD and tell them what you intend to do - after all, until you sat this exam no-one here knew of the IBD so you have already interested some potential students like me.

The blog would publicise the course and encourage people to sit the exam. It would be like a "blog tutorial" ("blogatorial")- It would also really help those studying the exam to discuss such short commings as you have just pointed out and to clear up their confusions

Good luck

Those PDFs are for the Diploma... They appear to have pulled the General Certificate PDFs from the site...

Will, that's a GREAT idea and I think I will do that. There' a US blogger who's taking the Siebel World Brewing Academy course and blogging it and they seem to have gotten a lot of positive press. (Although their courses are sold out until 2013 so I don't see the point.)

The exam is 185 GBP and you have to choose a speciality "chilled and filtered" beer for kegging/ filtering and bottling or the Cask Beer option; chapters 8 and 9 are the only things that are different between the two specialities. The pass rate is slightly higher on the Cask Beer option, but when you sign up for the exam they send you all of the PDFs anyway so you still get to learn about the other exam speciality.

Hi Ye Min

Welcome to Beoir

Full marks on using the search engine to find this thread!!

I find searching is one of the poorer aspects of the site driving software/search engine

Cheers

How long did it take you to prepare for the exam Adam? I notice that anyone thinking of doing it this year has about two and a half months to prepare for it. The exam date is 8th of May and the application deadline is the first of March. (I imagine you have to do the exam on the same day even if you take the online version of the exam).

It looks like something I'd be interested in doing, to be honest, although I'm not sure I've left myself enough time to study for it.

I scheduled the exam maybe 3 months ahead of time and slowly in my spare time over the first 2 months read through each of the PDFs once. Then I dedicated the three days before the exam to do nothing but study (like 12 hours each day).

-I went through the syllabus learning objectives for each chapter and put a check mark next to the items I didn't know off of the top of my head and then read through that part of the PDF slowly and carefully trying to memorize the learning objectives. -Then I "quizzed" myself by going back to the learning objectives in the syllabus and writing in my answers.

I probably over studied the last 3 days and scored higher than necessary to pass; you probably don't need a full three days (but it's an expensive exam so you don't want to take it twice).
