You could be right. I don't use an ATC, instead I have its smaller cousin, the STC-1000.

Make sure you have an ATC-800+ as maybe the older 800 model might be different
Also remember that the heating and cooling circuits are just relay contacts to switch the live power. That means you would connect the live feed to terminal 7 and link it to terminals 1,3.
Then terminal 2 would be the switched live feed to the fridge and terminal 4 to the heater.

I have the older ATC 800, it has a dead 5th terminal for some reason. I followed the wiring directions from the PDF I got online and all worked fine - the only extra thing I did was to create an earth bypass, so I have the whole thing earthed (my freezer is very old - all metal)
My seal isnt great - but thats a different story- I am getting some draught excluders and going to fit them up Saturday. When its all done I will post a few pics.
Thanks for posting that - I have it done it like that and it works great. I am going to add a small AC Fan onto the cold circuit and a heat pad to the hot one - just to make it crazy with wires -
