farmhouse cider maker on prime time...is it you? 15 years 3 months ago #1

Was watching prime time last night (Mon 31st Jan 2011), The subject of the minute was red tape stopping people from starting businesses.
There was a guy in the audienace who was going through his businesses that were all stopped by government red tape. He had a couple of street trading issues and then he said he makes traditional farmhouse cider but the fact that the same tax applied to the macros as to the micros was ppricing him out of it.
He then said he was making cider vinegar and selling in open air markets, but the environmental health were on to him

Has this changed now? Is there a special tax rate for micros?
More importantly were you the guy in the prime time audience with the long hair and the albion hat?? I thought there was a good chance he was 'one of us'

Didn't see it, but maybe it was David Llewelyn, as I know that he makes some great cider, but seems to have lots of issues with the Revenue Commissionaires, and selling his cider.

He was supposed to be at the Easterfest last year, but I was dissapointed that he couldn't make it, due to redtape I think.

Drinkstore stock his double L cider, but it is quite expensive, so I have only bought it a couple of times.

Cheers,
Billy.

Thats who i was thinking it was... as i had heard of him on here, but he operates in Lusk
This guy mentioned cork and connemara as places where he tried to create businesses. Still could have been the same guy of course.
But they were encouraging the audience to tell success stories too - and David L seems some what successful in what he does - so i think he would have mentioned it. Anyway - i assume this is David Lin this picture[/url:16cy6zet] - and thats not the guy on prime time

This guy had an english accent too btw.

Yes, the guy in your photo is David Llewellyn. My best guess is it was someone from Longueville House on Primetime. They produce wine and an apple brandy[/url:2rmj3ox9] and I think may be doing, or planning to do, small batches of cider.
