While it's important to respond in public fora like this, and act on requests like the government's consultation on licensing reform a couple of years ago (which we did[/url:2tt7jhcd]), we don't want to get get into the habit of writing unsolicited crank emails to people and organisations, what in my civil service days we called "green crayon letters".

I agree- we can be "reactive" to issues raised. But I do think we need to blow our own trumpet from time to time and feed press releases to the media. E.g. Both the official launch of Beoir and the upcoming AGM should be accompanied by a press-pack sent out to the national papers, TV and radio stations. This won't guarantee any coverage but there's a better chance of it being reported than sending nothing at all.
