Beer in Dingle 15 years 8 months ago #1

I've heard from a couple of sources that a new craft brewer has set up in Dingle or in the Dingle area. Any information would be happily received.

Rineys Bar in Sneem is a regular stocker of Hens Tooth (from the old Morlands brewery in Oxfordshire). It's made by the Wychwood brewery now I think, but its a real ale in a bottle and a beautiful tasting ale (although a little strong) in this part of Kerry

The brewery is called Beoir Chorca Duibhne, and is next to, and run by, Tig Bhric[/url:39h88b25], just outside Ballyferriter. They have a decent selection of other beers even if the house ale isn't on.

Their beer is also stocked by Tigh Uí Chatháin in Ballyferriter itself.

I heard through the grapevine (i.e. my Uncle, a Dingle native) that a new brewery/distillery might be opening in the near future. It will be situated very near the town centre. I'll ring him to get more details and let you know if anything comes of it.

Thread here[/url:3h9xbk5b]. Planning permission was granted early last year but no work has started on the site (the old creamery just at the fork in the road as you head up to the Conor Pass). I heard locally that there's a problem with the site, which presumably means back to square one. Though I also wonder how many of the €100,000 Founding Father investments[/url:3h9xbk5b] were forthcoming.

Edit: separately, there were plans for a brewery on Bridge Street, but permission wasn't granted.

I used to sit in my Uncle's tractor as he delivered milk to that Creamery! Fond memories <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->
I contacted the Kerryman journalist who reported on the planning decision back in May. I'll let you know if he has any more news.

The brewery is planning ref 091355; the distillery 082305.

The drawings of the latter are particularly impressive:
