Thanks, everyone!
I initially wandered into the Bierhaus for a while, saw that they had only the usual offerings and left and wandered down to the Salt House and was incredibly happy with the selection and just the general feel of the place. There were beer geeks talking about the newest dry hopped offering (great sign; lol!); and I finally got to try the Dungarvin Black Rock stout!!
-It lived up to all the hype and then some.
GREAT stout, full depth of flavor like a craft brewed stout should taste. It wasn't just the "one note" roast barley flavor, it had full flavor and probably the single longest lasting head I've seen of any beer in 6 months or so. I'm not sure if they're cheating and using heading foam or how they ended up with such amazing head retention but it was IMPRESSIVE!
I also made it out to the Oslo and tried their Ale and very Full-Flavored Lager. My wife ordered the lager and I was really suprised with how much flavor it had given than it was a lager and was so clear. Both beers DID have significant chill haze, though.
The Oslo is a great facility, but I really had to do some searching to find the beer kit and the lights were turned off in there. -A brew pub should really show off the kit and remind people that they're a brew pub!
I also witnessed an absolute travesty from the bar man on Saturday; someone wandered in and said "I don't really know what I want, just a lager" and the bar man said "Heineken?"..... -You work in a brew pub and the guy doesn't know what he wants and you recommend Heineken instead of your own lager??!?!?! Seriously?!?
All in all a GREAT trip; but that bar man really needs straightened out...
