Hi guys, I´m travelling around the southern states in US during the month of July and I´d appreciate any suggestions regarding beer to quench my thirst (Bourbon or Coca Cola won´t do the trick ).

(and maybe she'll realise that your 'obsession' COULD be a hell of a lot worse if you had a real HBS to visit here in Ireland!)
And maybe, just maybe, if you're REAL nice some of the nice people over there might organise to meet up with you and let you try some of theirs....
As for beers, well I dunno whats available down south, but Arrogant Bastard is supposed to be very nice, it's in south CA at least, I didn't really like Anchor Steam beer much meself, lived on Sierra Nevada to be honest, with the odd foray into Fat Tire.

I'm not too familiar with Southern US beers, most of the ones I've come across have been from West or Northwest. Flying Dog Ales are nice if memory serves me right but they're Colorado so I'm not sure if they qualify. If you're a Hunter S. Thompson fan their bottles are easy to spot as the artwork is by his buddy Ralph Steadman.

If you are around Southern California or Arizona, maybe see if you pass near a Yard House[/url:1w4xju5h]location. Go to the high bandwidth version of the site and go to the maps. It's worth going there just to see what 170 beer taps look like in a bar, but also because you'll have a pretty good choice of American beers. When I was in their bar in Palm Springs[/url:1w4xju5h], well, Rancho Mirage actually, last March I had the Rogue Dead Guy Ale and Alleycat Amber.

However, when I think Southern States I tend to think of Missouri, Louisiana, Texas, Alabama and the like, so you're on your own there <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

It might be worth having a look through the Realbeer forum[/url:2wa5s289] There's a section in the Beer and Travel forum dedicated to the South, and a fair number of the regular posters are from down that area.
