I will be out for the beer challenge! Any takers?

I'm on call, yet again. I've been on call for most of the gatherings so far. Bad luck for me.

Well I finally made it into the B&C on Saturday. Got my fix of Galway Hooker, while Séan knocked a couple more off his list. It's a nice pub, and the grub really hit the spot (along with the beers).

I also got to bring home a bottle of Séan's porter and strong ale. The porter didn't last long at all, and I was very impressed with it. He's setting a high standard there. I'm nervously awaiting his comments on my pale ale and Irish red!

Glad you like the porter. I brewed it as an alternative to Stout, letting crystal and chocolate malt do the work where stout uses roasted barley.I'm quite fond of it myself.

I drank your pale ale last night and I must say I enjoyed it.

It poured darker than I was expecting and was quite malty on the nose. Then I drank it and the malt backbone gave way to loads of hops. More bittering than I was expecting, but not in a bad way. Quite a complex beer. I could drink a few of them, no problem.

I brought my brew book into work today, so I have posted the recipe for the porter, as you requested by email.

If anyone wants any other recipes of mine, now would be the time to ask.

It came out a little darker than I hoped; not that I'm too bothered about it. I think there was only 125g Crystal and maybe 50g roasted barley. I'm glad you liked it; it's good to get the thumbs up from a fellow brewer.
