Excise and VAT both cut. With a threat to put it back up if the saving is not passed along to the consumer.

Cautious welcome?

The VAT increase last time out was foolish.

Both measures are squarely aimed at reducing the cross-border shopping.

I was in NI today and the pre-Christmas offers on beer are fantastic, as they were last year.

500ml bottles of Marston's Old Empire (Pale Ale) are £1.14. (Never mind 56 x 284ml bottles of Stella for only £20) Very hard to compete with that.
