Did anyone see the six one's coverage of Guinness day? Shameless advertising. The lads in St. James' gate must of spent a fortune on this.[/quote:5nbt2v4u]

No way would RTE have taken money for that. But i agree it was shameless. As thebeernut puts it "dublin brought to you by Diageo", they have managed to make a drink part of the national identity.

Why would you be so surprised? It's not like paying to have you story featured is unheard of. IMHO RTE would be silly not to approach Diagio.

Maybe I am being naive. Have you ever heard of RTE news taking money for putting a story on though? I have spent time in the RTE newsroom and they don't seem to work like that. Work like "right we have this piece of footage stick it on whatever it is" they do work like.

Sure, they don't have much else to report on anyway.
Bah, I'm in a cynical mood today, sigh.

In the states it'd done extremly blatently with the anchors going as far as actually holding the product up to camera like something out of a parody. I just dont think that if it was discovered that RTE had taken money it would create any scandal.

Dobson was pretty close to gulping down half a pint of the black stuff and exclaiming "Ahhh....here's to you Authur!"
