I think they added a coupe of unnecessary letter in this quote:

[quote:1afmdloz]meaning people are [i:1afmdloz]un[/i:1afmdloz]knowingly drinking more than recommended[/quote:1afmdloz]

Is it any wonder the rest of the world thinks we're a bunch of alcholics <!-- s:oops: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_redface.gif" alt=":oops:" title="Embarassed" /><!-- s:oops: -->[/quote:3jttzqi6]

What's this "larger container" nonsense about ? Pints were still pint-sized last time I checked. I suspect they've copied some research from the UK where pub glasses of wine have got considerably bigger over the last few years but that doesn't apply in Ireland.

Does this mean that all bars will have to change their taps to show warnings and ingredients or will they have to chuck out all the glasses and get new ones for each beer with lists so we can be sure that we are drinking sensibly when we are not drinking at home?
I'm resisting a strong urge to use phrases such as "Nanny State" and "PC gone mad".
(I'll pop money in the swear box for using those two)

Draught beer will be exempt, I'd say, the way it's already exempt from things like origin statements and other consumer information.

Bar staff all over the country can moonlight as gaurdians of the daily unit intake on behalf of the Careful Now Brigade. Excellent.

That's inefficient. Retinal scanners on the pythons is much easier: eRations.
