No offense taken. DIY is the correct response to such suggestions. I don't know enough to write that article though. I do know enough to start the thread in the kit section to see if there is enough extras that can be added to make it worth an article.

I'm in the same boat. I've never made a kit beer, although I've been bi-curious about it. The only tweak I know is to use DME instead of sugar!

I think that article would end up pointing our would be brewer in the direction of normal extract or even all grain brewing. I think the bottom line is if you want to brew more than what the kit is designed for, you might as well just follow a normal recipe for whatever beer it is that you want (whether that's a stronger beer or whatever style)

That sounds like good news to me. If there is an influx of people on the site then there should be a FAQ section and then for any q's that are already addressed then point them to the FAQ section and lock the thread (if new ) or just ignore.
There are so many people out there who might like brewing but dont know how to get a start. Not so long ago in Cork anyway you had to make contact with bob in glengarriff ( about 70 miles out in the Wild west) and hope he sorts you out. Granted now we have brilliant online resources like this, but everyone needs to start somewhere.

I don't see a problem to be honest, most of the supermarkets in australia sell homebrew stuff, and from my experience coopers kits are not bad. If they also stock stuff like caps etc - the stuff you often invariably run short of and need at short notice, then it'll be very useful.

And if even a small percentage of the people who try it keep it up, then there's potentially a lot of folk to a) keep our homebrew stores in business and b) change the drinking tastes of many people. Of course it will also result in an increase in antisocial behaviour, underage alcoholics and blindness, but every silver lining has a cloud eh?

Kenmc is right, in the Aussie equivalent of Tesco and Dunnes, the homebrew kits, yeast, bottle caps etc are in the hardware aisle.

OP, was it just kits that SQ are stocking at the moment?
