Hello, my name is Garry. I worked for the Porterhouse company back in 2005/2006 and there began my love affair with Irish craft beer. My background is in env, safety & quality and I've worked as a contractor for most of the large Irish breweries at some point or another. Before I departed for Canada in 2012 I operated between Dublin and Munich as design safety lead for the design+manufacture of the new Guinness brewhouse. Like most posters in this community I am also a home brewer and have a particular grá for west coast ales and sour beers. I study part-time out of the World Brewing Academy in Chicago and am progressing to my second course later in the year.
In Canada I work as a manufacturing advisor and volunteer for a local brewery here in the frozen north. I am walking distance from the largest beer off-licence in Canada so I have access to lots of great craft beer. That said, Irish beer rivals anything produced on this continent and I am pretty quick to drop that into the conversation. It isn't hard to be convincing when you mean it.
I look forward to drawing on the collective experiences of this community and improving my brewing and industry knowledge. For my part I am happy to answer any H&S or QMS related questions, particularly for new brewery owners. Whilst I intend to transition away from the area I do have extensive knowledge and will gladly add value if and where I can.
Sláinte
