There is often a dog in the Royal Oak in Kilmainham. It's like an old school country pub in the middle of Dublin.

The hosts of the Valley House Hostel and Bar on Achill Island in Co. Mayo have a dog that frequents the pub and is quite talented at snatching mats out of the air in mid-flight. Patrick runs a pub well worth the visit there with a good mix of locals and hostel guests. The beers are nothing unusual, Guinness, Smithwicks, Heinie, etc, but they are kept and served with care, and it shows.
