I rember graham saunders doing something with native australian grasses and wild yeast don't know if he finished it though. interesting concept though.

I would presume the spec also don't include micro equipment, there wont be any strain select with out the ability to isolate a pure culture, no single cultures was a lot of modern brewers use

but you can used the wild flora that will occur naturally on the grain. As in the case of sourdough. it wont produce fantastic beer, but would still be beer.

I think that more producing malt extract as posed to malting barley

Well maybe they aren't beers but this book should get you going if you were marooned. It has recipes for wines and meads made form all sorts of things. Unless you're unlucky your island should have some fruit on it. I've always wanted to make birch sap beer.

This book has loads about how tribal people made beer with minimal santitation which might be useful on an island. It's got a chapter called Psychotropic and highly inebriating beers which may help when stuck on the island.
