Hi all,
Found an unsecured wireless network accessible from our apartment in Rome so I'm taking the opportunity to post.
Well, we did it, I'm a married man. Everything went well and people enjoyed Vienna thoroughly. Getting married on a vintage tram was a great idea. We attracted a lot of attention as we travelled through the streets of Vienna drinking beer\bubbly in our finery. I wonder how many holiday snaps of complete strangers include my wedding.
We went through 10 litres of Märzen from Wieden Bräu on the tram and a further 70 litres at the reception, so I think my beer choice went down well too.
Betty and I have since gone to Italy, where we visited Naples (a filthy hole of a city best avoided) purely for the archaeology nearby.
We have since travelled to Rome, which is much more to our liking and have an apartment a stones trow from the Vatican and a 15 minute walk from Trastevere.
Bir and Fud in Trastevere was good and the welcome we got across the road in Ma Che Siete Venuti A Fa was unbelievable. When we first visited the place, we had depleted our cash reserves somewhat, due to the credit card machine in Bir and Fud being out of action, so we only had enough money for two drinks. When I asked the nice barman where the nearest bank machine is he told me it was too far away and insisted on giving us beer on tick. This was good, as they have a wonderful selection of beers, including a cask porter, an IPA and a lambic on tap. Two days later I popped in and paid the tab. Naturally I stayed for a few beers. It would have been rude to just leave straight away, but when we finally did head out the door (at about 1:30), we were presented with free Ma Che Siete Venuti A Fa, t-shirts. They can't have made much money from us, I can tell you.
Well I'd better go, time to get me some pasta. Off to Florence tomorrow so I don't know when my next post will be.
