Pretty much all clubs I can think of use the term RFC - Rugby Football Club -e.g Wanders RFC, Old Wesley RFC, Suttonians RFC etc, also as pointed out IRFU and in England, the RFU. "Rugby Football" is the official term I believe.
To be fair though I don't think I have ever referred to the oval shaped thing we chase around the pitch as a rugby football - simply a ball, or perhaps a Rugby Ball if in the the context it was likely to be confused with a roundy shaped ball. But I have always explicitly called the ball used for soccer, a soccer ball for some reason. Likewise I have always used the term 'football' for the ball that Gaelic Football players use.

The amount of difficulty I had finding the Pumas Jersey was surprising, given their success in the WC.
Anyway, back on topic. Somehow. Erm anyone tried that Brains beer that the Welsh Rugby Football Team have on their shirts?

Any country that has it's own 'variation' on football, eg American Football, Gaelic Football, Australian thuggery, tend to use soccer to distinguish Association Football from their own games (not sure I'd class it as an abbreviation though). But calling it a soccer ball is an Americanisation too far for me (no offence to Ramfan).
Anyway, Reverend James - I enjoyed a couple of pints of this with lunch in a lovely, remote seaside pub when I was in Wales two years ago. Man it packs a punch.
