What are these "key outlets" and "top tier accounts" they're on about?

The ones they make the most money from, I guess. It's probably the ones they had locked in to tap blocking arrangements themselves.

It could also be certain iconic pubs where they might not make much money but the loss would be seen as detrimental to their brand as it's a pub tourists flock to.
