Hello Ladies and Gents of Beoir,

I'd like to introduce myself, My name is Damien Rafferty of Craftsman Malt Co. We are establishing a craft malting facility using traditional floor malting techniques on our Co. Armagh farm. We are hoping to be Ireland's 1st craft malt facility using local grains from local producers and using traditional floor malting techniques to make a superior quality product fitting for our excellent brewers.

Am I writing to you today to carry out some necessary market research. We are aspiring to provide a product for the home-brew market, so if you could spare me a minute or two and please leave a comment if this is something that would interest you as a home brewer?

Malt is cheap so I have no problem paying for quality. I am brewing this weekend having spent 5 euro on 4kgs of vienna malt using recycled yeast and leftover hops in the freezer. So I'd have no problem upping that to 8, 9, 10 euro for quality malt.

In fact I used to brew in New Zealand using <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.gladfieldmalt.co.nz">www.gladfieldmalt.co.nz
A similar story to yours, aimed at the craft and homebrewing market, starting small and expanding with demand.
I don't think the beer I've brewed here is as good malt wise as my NZ brews. I can't say for sure that's directly down to malt quality but I suspect it is.

Yes thats the main goal to supply local breweries with local malt from local growers. My ethos is based around sustainability and quality. I am just considering if there is also a market for the home brewers too.
