I volunteered years ago and begun covering northern Ireland and that expanded to Ireland and Scotland as none of the other admins had much info for those areas.

Not advised!

I used to perform a similar role to Stephanos over on BeerAdvocate. I volunteered for it because I was fed up reading about the best pubs in Ireland being in Doolin etc., serving an "awesome pint of Guinness" - and this was on a site that purported to be about craft beer! So after a few years of being Admin for Ireland and tidying up the Irish entries and adding plenty (both breweries & pubs), the powers-that-be over on BA decided that they could do this job thenselves. So good luck to them!
And that's why the information on the BA site is poor for Ireland.

John it's funny you should mention that...roughly 10 years ago when I would have been looking for craft beer in Ireland, my first stop was BA's site and didn't find much and went onto RB's site and found marginally more information which is why today I am on ratebeer almost all the time.
