Craft Beer Pub Crawl 13 years 10 months ago #1

Going on emmetg's suggestion how does Sunday 5th August i.e. International Beer Day sound?

Probably best to base it in Dublin to kick things off. Off the top of my head potential pubs that are within walking distance, large enough and (most importantly) sell craft.

Bull and Castle
Farringtons
Messr's
O'Neills (Suffolk st)
Porterhouse Central(not sure if Parliament St is big enough)

5 or 6 is probably enough. Invite the brewers along and we can have a few talks from them along the way and we could probably arrange for a group discount on pints.

Thoughts?

i was thinking along the same route. has anyone been on similar events?
any lessons learned?

simpliest way would be everyone gets there own that way no messing with money and vouchers in bars as well as allowing the group to gather members as we go along.

a set of Beoir cards to give the barman at each pub that may allow a slight discount on the beer to be sampled in the bar as well as putting the beoir logo and name out there

someone with a loud voice to lead the pack and a couple of "sheepdog" members to pick up any stragglers would seem a good idea.

hi viz jackets are good as people are always inclined to do what someone in a hi viz jacket says.

a simple print off with tasting notes for the beers to be sampled at the various pubs to take home also with beoir logo and website

Before Beoir and ICB I arrange the Dublin leg of the international pub crawl. Basically, it was a bunch of people, in various cities around the world going on a pub crawl at the same time.

I did up a map of the city centre, with all of the pubs marked on it and numbered in the order we would be visiting them. I handed out copies of it to everyone, the idea being that if someone got sidetracked, or wanted to skip a pub, they could find us quite easily without relying on someone hearing their phone in a noisy pub.
