The true cost is actually higher if you count the cost of equipment, cleaning products, energy etc. If you wanted to put a € value on your time, an all grain batch probably involves 10 hours of labour, start to finish.

The first question a lot of people ask me about brewing is "how much is it per pint". For extract I used to estimate about 80 cents per pint and advise that if you're looking to get pissed cheaply, buy some Bavaria.

Of the 5 tips for beginners I'd add that 3kg kits are much better than cheaper ones; and if you are using extra fermentables, use spraymalt not table sugar, despite what the instructions might say.

Yes, won't copy and paste directly, and will rephrase.

Great article that and impressive to have the whole paper up in flash format too.

Just realised, assuming this is happening on May 29th then I can't make it as ironically my Cork friends are coming up to visit me that weekend.

Unless I can convince them to reverse the role...

Oh and since the date/time are not on the first page... can someone edit the thread title to include it? Right now it is hard to find unless you read through the thread. I am thinking of newbies here.
Won't someone think of the newbies???

Just finishing off the article for the examiner. A lot of the information I put in has been culled, and he's presented some of it in manner that might be a bit more poulist. I mentioned in the interview that people swap beers with each other, and some barter for produce such as veg etc. He's picked up on this element in a big way and is stating that a lot of people barter rather than a few, so I will pull him up on this to make it more accurate. I think it is, but I just want to confirm that it is okay to barter with beer. Can anyone confirm?
