I had a great day tasting Irish beer yesterday. Thanks to the Porterhouse for organizing it. There's some really great beers to try as part of the festival this year.

Here's the winners in the different categories.

Best Ale: Copperhead from Whitewater
Best Lager: Amber from White Gypsy
Best Stout: Wrasslers XXXX from the Porterhouse
Best Specialty: 3 Kings Celebration from Franciscan Well
Best Bottle: Oyster Stout from the Porterhouse

Michael Jackson award for best overall Irish beer: Oyster Stout (Bottled) from The Porterhouse

Well done to all the winners! It's great to see so many new beers entered this year and many of them won their categories. I really enjoyed the Oyster stout bottled, it's very different from the tap version.

It was a good day and there were some cracking beers in the lineup.

I ended up with serious palate fatigue and quite simply couldn't face any more beer, so I went home at about 8.30 like a lightweight.

Interesting results - a couple of new beers to try.

I was interested the Three Kinga got an award. I think it got undeserved criticism from some quarters here previously. I would revommend to leave it settle and have it a bit warm if possible i.e. order a drink ahead and let it warm up / breathe
