Annascaul Beerfest

ANNASCAUL , Co. KERRY - The community and publicans of Annascaul, Co. Kerry are glad to announce that the fifth annual Annascaul Beerfest will be held in the village on August Bank Holiday Weekend 4 August and 5 August. As well as a wide range of premium beers from around the world, the Annascaul Beerfest will also include the locally-brewed Tom Crean’s Premium Irish Lager. This is a fun event with live music, a Food Garden and a BBQ.
From 2 p.m. on Saturday 4 August, patrons of “ANNASCAUL BEERFEST sponsored by Tom Crean’s Premium Irish Lager” are invited to the hometown of Antarctic hero Tom Crean to taste beers from both near and far. The Dingle Brewing Company produce an exclusive premium Irish Lager named after the heroic Crean --- and the beer is on sale at the South Pole Inn . The world beers are brought to you from Premier Beers International and include brands from central Europe, the Far East as well as from the Antipodes.
Each of the participating pubs will have either live music or a DJ at some point over the weekend. Saturday sees the party band Renovator take the stage outside the South Pole Inn while recently formed Mid – Kerry group Blame Jane provide the entertainment at the BBQ@Baldwin’s on Sunday afternoon. Patcheen’s Bar will host a trad session on Saturday evening while the evening will see DJs in Hanafin’s Bar and the Randy Leprechaun. Definitive information is to be found on annascaul.wordpress.com.
The Dingle Brewing Company, the producers of Tom Crean’s Premium Irish Lager have come on board as a headline sponsor this year. They are a local micro-brewery who are committed to rejuvenating the unique atmosphere of socializing in an Irish pub by producing a premium Irish lager that will appeal to both the public and the publican alike, whilst not sacrificing on quality by brewing naturally using only the finest ingredients and their very own spring water.
The last four years proved to be a great success with proceeds going to various charities and local causes. Last year €3,000 was donated to the Annascaul Tidy Towns Action Group. This year we shall be donating to Kerry Respite Care, who provide subsidized quality care in the home to the elderly living alone, people with disabilities and family carers of elderly relatives and children with special needs.
