Got the free sample after a bit of work!! Showing staff the emails and Facebook statuses etc. Seems like none of the staff are aware of it!!

Yeah i know mate, bit of a diaster. Bit pissed off about it tbh, the whole reason i convinced myself and the missus to come here was because of it. Not that i mind spending money on their beer, it felt like being dupped without getting a free taster.

That's odd, any time we have been at a batch party before, about 3 so far I think, the beer on the launch is free and we drink copious numbers of [b:1pexd3mk]pints [/b:1pexd3mk]of the stuff for a couple of hours.

Ditto, plus the last time we where there, the barmen wouldn't even let us pay for pints of the non-launch stuff.

Out of curiosity, did you guys stay for the stroke of midnight itself? Just wondering how you fared. Atmosphere etc.

Oh and I suggest sending feedback to Caitriona at the info email address as it's her job to arrange all this stuff and if staff didn't put on the show she expected, she will probably want to hear about it.

The two of us were there about 8.10 in the area on the 2nd floor reserved for 10people. Asked the barman what the whole story was. He didnt know much. Waited around until about half past. Went back to him and asked would we be getting our free taster and showed him catrionas email and mentioned the FB post. A bargirl overheard and said she would investigate. She came back to us about 8.50 and said we can get a free pint of it each but it was on the ground floor so about another 10min later we got a free pint of it each and a bried description of it, all while the reserved area was empty and the whole floor pretty empty but starting to fill up.

We bought two more beers (not the seasonal) and some crisps as they werent serving any hot food anymore. Met slayerking about 10.45 as we leaving. Talked about similar problems getting the beer. Staff didnt seem to know anything about it but did actually mention that the previous batch parties never had many attending while seemed a bit of an oxymoron situation.

Never planned to stay out long and it wont affect me going to sweetmans as its probably the most frequently pub i go to. Maybe if the staff had been different it could have been a more enjoyable night (i hate new years anyway <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: --> ) just a weird night
