From talking to the lads in The Well, the bottles cost about EUR2 each, so if you're paying EUR12, then the beer is EUR10, so a EUR5 a pint.
Thats not a bad price for a decent pint, given that bottling is not the norm in The Well.

I didn't think it was cheap to import those bottles from Germany, and I appreciate that filling all those bottles manually has to be expensive. Which is why I would have thought this format would be more appropriate for bigger beers.

The 750ml brown flip-tops are manufactured in Sandyford and are available for 1.33€ when only purchasing 25 at a time. A bulk order would likely result in lower prices.

I know they're not the same 1 liter bottles, but it is nice to know that there's a locally produced option, at least.

And to be fair I can see why they use the 1 litre bottles - I'm sure the labour costs more than the bottles and using 75cl bottles would mean 33% effort. <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->

Price gripes aside I'm looking forward to getting back to the auld sod this weekend and popping a bottle or two of this open with the relations. I had a Sam Smith India Ale the other day and I think the Alpha Dawg, from recollection, would stand up pretty well beside it.
