Can I pose two questions:

Which is "worse" in actual terms: a beer brewed in Scotland and shipped to Ireland via Norway (approx 1300 miles), or a beer shipped to Ireland straight from where it's brewed in California (approx 5000 miles)?

Or, what about a beer brewed in Ireland but using hops shipped from New Zealand (approx 13000 miles)?

Very, very good point. What's the weight of hops for a typical barrel of beer vs. the weight of a barrel of beer, though?

Drinking Irish Craft Beer made with English-grown hops seems to be the most green option.

Shipping beer around the world through distribution channels just seems so completely unnecessary; bad for quality, bad for the environment, and bad for the cost of beer.

Worked for IPA <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) --> Maybe this can lead to a new beer myth, "shipped from Scotland via Norway for extra Scandinaviosity". Get on it marketers.
