Well, I couldn't manage to make it to the Porterhouse before the meet (sorry Demsey) but I managed to try it after leaving the B&C.
Personally, I quite liked it. It's what I think a made-in-Ireland version of a Bohemian dark lager should taste like. Instead of having the more subdued subtle chocolaty roastiness of most of the Bohemian Dark/Czech Black Lagers it had a much more pronounced and in-your-face roast and quite assertive hoppiness.
It was closer to a black IPA (or whatever we're supposed to call that style now) to me. -This will REALLY drive TBN crazy. Not only did I call it both Black and Pale but it's a lager and I called it an ale; lol!
I'd say it's Ireland's first black IPA except of course that its a lager so it can't be.
