There's probably a number of reasons, but can any of the experts tell me why brewers don't use plastic instead of glass (or aluminum cans) to sell their beverages.

Does it effect flavour? I've heard occasional political rumblings to ban bottles for the danger they pose (as in, thrown about in parks etc) but i assume this is the usual hot-air, but if it even did have some point to it, are there counter-arguments?

In the Czech Republic, the 1L PET bottle is becoming the standard for packaged craft beer.

As to being thrown around in parks, I've yet to have my tyres punctured by a discarded plastic bottle <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

If (highly unlikely) this was considered by the Department of the Environment, you're saying there are no taste/health risks counter-arguments to make?

back in the 80,s I seem to remember something about limiting the use of PET bottles. At the time there was no beer sold in them so it was decided not to let that go ahead as it would be harder to end it in the future.
