Schlenkerla Marzen on Tap 15 years 6 months ago #7

Just came back from B&C:

1. Sch. Marzen: I was expecting more smoke flavor/aroma from the keg version. Instead, there was some extra fresh maltiness and overall smoothness. Great, great beer. I totally love it, so does my missus by the way

2. Smiling Buddha: first time tried a hoppy amber ale. Anybody got a recipe? First class drop

Generally, success!

Has some of the Schlenkerla Marzen tonight, very nice. Breakfast in a beer. I wish I'd noticed the Smiling buddha earlier, was ready to leave when I spotted it.

I had a Schlenkerla Marzen in the bottle in Against the Grain on Tuesday night, before walking down to the B&C and sampling the keg version. As Brian said, the keg version has less smoke flavours, and is drier and sharper. That's how I felt about it anyway, but both excellent. I still would not be able to drink the rauchbiers for the night though. The first one went down well with a burger in ATG.
